The Artist
WELCOME
My name is Zet Scott. Painter, Writer, Storyteller
I’ve been a writer and poet since childhood, always drawn to stories, emotion, and the power of putting feelings into words. I fell in love with painting during a paint and sip hosted by my mother. A few months later, I bought my first paint set and canvas and did a horrible job. But that first attempt was the beginning of something important.
Through reading books on technique, watching YouTube videos, talking with other artists online, and learning from artist friends, I began to refine my skills and evolve as a painter. Over time, painting became more than something I enjoyed. It became a way to process life, express emotion, and tell stories in a visual form. Painting has helped me through rough times, depression, anxiety, and seasons of high stress.
It has made me a better storyteller, just as writing has deepened the way I paint. Some pieces have made me cry. Some have made me laugh. Some have made me stop and think. My hope as an artist is that when people see my work, they feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.
My Art
My art lives where emotion and story meet. It explores strength, softness, grief, healing, identity, and transformation, the parts of us that are seen and the parts that are carried quietly. Some pieces speak in bold color. Others speak in grayscale, shadow, and stillness. I create work that is meant to hold feeling. Not just beauty, but truth. Not just an image, but a presence. Whether a piece feels tender, powerful, heavy, or unresolved, I want it to connect in a way that stays with people long after they’ve looked away.
My Logo
My logo holds the language of my work in three symbols: the phoenix, the book, and the heart.
The phoenix speaks to rebirth, resilience, and transformation, the part of us that rises again after being broken, burned, or changed by life. Not untouched, but still standing. Still becoming.
The book honors where my creative journey began. I was a writer and poet before I was a painter, and story is still at the center of everything I create. The book represents voice, memory, imagination, and the truths we try to give shape to, first in words, then in color.
The heart is the soul of it all. It represents emotion, love, grief, healing, vulnerability, and the deep human need to feel seen and understood. My work is rooted there, in the heart, in the things we carry, the things we survive, and the things we are still learning how to name.
Together, these symbols form more than a logo. They reflect the foundation of Blue Phoenix Art Studio: a place where story, transformation, and emotional truth come together.
Studio Favorites
The materials I use are part of the storytelling. I work with a mix of acrylics, specialty paints, and canvas surfaces depending on the mood, texture, and finish I want each piece to carry. My studio materials include Liquitex Basics, Blick acrylics, Milo fluorescent paint, color-change paints, chalk paint, pastel acrylics, and a range of stretched canvases and panels.
